Students debate current topics relevant today as well as historically significant topics both local; here on the school campus; i.e., the extended school year, in Lehigh Acres, state issues in Florida, national; i.e. wiki-leaks, Row v. Wade, euthanasia, the legalization of marijuana, proposition 8, gun control, and international topics such as singularity (regarding technology), and events in; Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Libya.
Students discuss; different styles of debate i.e. Parliamentary, how these topics affect their lives, and how to be more effective communicators. Students hold mock debates and exercise their skills by looking at both sides of the issue. The club has about 10 members and has not yet competed with another school, however they are interested in participating with the National Forensics League soon.
